bit of a break
Hi lads, especially moonmanflyer (as he is welded to his internet!!) been a while since posting on here. Had no time to fly the Ely Q all over summer. Got blades tracked on a very blustery day early in the year with a hover to prove gyro direction and a passable basic tune, then layed her up for the summer. Charged the flight pack a couple times but work / other hobbies and missus had other plans.
Anyway farmer giles has been busy in the fields lately making lots of flying sites and with permission to fly, loaded the gear into the Disco and got to the field. First prob was I took out the glow lead, with the nicad charge leads in garage. Luckily had a 1 Cell glowstart unit in the pitbox. Fueled up and no power. 'Wished' lots of amps into the glowstart and the TT redline fired up no probs, ran sweet as a nut.
Ran the motor for a minute and checked the motor picked up ok (if a little rich) Full of adrenalin and shaky hands, she rose into a hover (collective much more sharper than the ol Sceadoo) and ran a tank through with some lazy circuits and hovers with climbouts.Heartrate overload and stiff fingers.
Next flight leaned her out a little and much happier. Called it a night and quit while I was ahead.
Took her out second night, more confidence and trimmed better. Flew two full tanks with nice back flips and scale precise circuits with tight hovering and stall turns with tail slides thrown in. Not bothered now with 3D trying to keep up with Aidy & Stu, happy to watch you fly though(respect). Just happy flying a servicable heli at the mo that I can fly tomorrow!
Time is a premium and it goes too fast.
