I solve that problem for myself by simply ignoring it; all you would hear in my head is la la la la la la la la la la.

I'd guess between 5 and 6 flights per bottle of Coolpower (US gallon).
Two things spring to mind here my friend.......

    1) to my certain knowledge, you haven't got, nor have ever owned a 90 heli, and

    2) it wouldn't be la la la la la la la la la la, it would more than likely be na na na na na na na na, I'm not listening, na na na na na na na .....

I know where you live Steve!

He's right on both counts...my Vigor (and previously my Freya) has an OS70 in it; while less thirsty than a 90 the tanks are clearly the same size...so it just means I get 10 mins per tank on my OS70 versus the 6 mins on an OS90.

...and its definitely "na na na na not listening, happy place, happy place, there's no place like home, na na na na"

In all seriousness though, I have recently changed fuels from 30% to 15% nitro in my 90 and yes, there's a drop in power but still plenty enough for me, but what's more noticeable is I get much longer flight times in the same heli. My Vibe 90 can got for about 12 minutes now on a tank against maybe 8 or 9 before on the 30%

This is of course obvious to most people, but in response to the original question about how many tanks we get from a gallon..

6 flights at 8 minutes per flight = 48 minutes flying.
6 flights at 12 minutes per flight = 72 minutes flying.

That's a lot more time in the air.

I was asking out of interest really. Nothing to do with whether I could afford it or not. I knew they were thirsty on the juice but never knew just how thirsty... hence my poll!

The fuel consumption of 90's has previously made me hesitant to have anything bigger than a 50 nitro but I wanted some bigger helis so went with gassers.

But really it's a matter of what kind of flying you do and what other helis you have. Because if you have other helis and don't fly the 90 all the time then it's not that big a deal. I still have fun flying the Raptor 30.

I recently got a Raptor 90 and I have to say, it does look cool and I will fly it but we shall see if it's practical.

Another thought to add, if you don't need max power out if it you can prob lower the cost a bit by going with a lower nitro fuel, I would think.

I dropped to 20% fuel after using 30% for a year or so and now I'm used to it flying isn't that much affected, just the pocket £4.07 per flight on 30% and £3.21 on 20% plus I tend to only fly the 90 these days as somehow a 50 just doesn't do it for me any more
