    Di Dudes

i've got a raptor 60 with a vibe issue, it has a serious tail vibration.

i do know that it only has one tourque tube bearing in it which i know is roughly in the centre of the boom (as per the manual)

    all the shafts are new

i am 99 percent sure it has never been used as a lawn dart

has anyone had a prob with a 60 like this

Trex 700 LE, 610's cyclic. Vbar, Radix mains, OS105HZ

    Trex 600 NSP 610's, OS55/Redline 53, 9254 tail, Vbar, Align Mains

    Trex 450 Pro Kbar

    Trex 700 Gasser Helix, Vbar

    Raptor G4 OS105HZ

Three things i can think of from my pre modified raptor days,
The torque tube bearing shouldn't be in the centre but offset,
The boom shouldn't be pushed all the way in, pull it out about 3mm,
The feathering spindle gets stuck to the rubber dampers, remove and apply silicon grease.
Let me know how you get on
    Cheers Daren

How tight are the tail blades???? If they are too tight then they cannot swing out straight.

Just stabs in the dark really mate but are the tail blades balanced? A second torque tube bearing will definitely help.
Is the tail shaft straight? Are the tail blade grips as they should be? Ie bearings not shifted in the worn plastic? Are the bearings themselves okay?
Is the torque tube actually straight?
Could be due to any or all of the above fella.
        Cheers,

        Gazza

          Is there a belt mod?

On the subject of the Raptor 60/90 tail, is there a kit available to convert to a belt-driven tail ?

thanks to everybody i'll look at all the points and report back.

daren where should the bearing be, more to the front or the rear of the heli.

gazza thanks for all that, by the way how are you getting on with your novarossi 57 mine is lovely but i am thinking of trying a different fuel.

trillian that is a good idea i recently converted my 600 to belt and noticed no difference in performance apart from the auto's.

biggles i'll have a look at the blades thanks.

Anywhere apart from the middle as it causes a vibration in the middle.

Novarossi is just superb thanks mate
I've run 11 tanks of 20% Optifuel through it and 1 tank of 30% Optifuel. I didn't shim it up for 30% however but it still ran great. Not a massive difference from the other tanks mind but that could change with Shims.
                Cheers,

                  Hi Lee,
The bearing needs to be offset from the middle otherwise you get resonance. try shifteing the bearing towards the front by about an inch or so.

use the tz 90 tail parts
its a raptor clone with a belt tail

but the raptor 60/90 works fine with the torque tube

i've always run two bearings in my 60 and 90 raptors
i would check the tt as some where slightly bent from new
