  • Kalt Enforcer using head hold this time.

So they all told me not to use head hold on the Enforcer since the piano wire would twist all up in the tail boom. I flew it with head hold for about 7 tanks this week. No problems yet...Mind you...im not flying insane with it...lol

    Hi John,

Looks really good, and just shows you shouldn’t believe what you read on the internet!

I really thought that you could have problems with a modern gyro & the wire, but I am pleased to see I was wrong. At least you were aware of the potential problem.

    Nice to see it Flying.

    Tim.

That link only seems to go to 'my videos' and not a specific video. When I click it I get my own video page on youtube.

Regarding the gyro and wire drive, the gyro doesn't 'know' how the tailrotor is driven, it only knows to add or subtract pitch according to movement. If you had constantly changing tailrotor speed drastic enough to allow the tail to wag you'd have a problem I suppose.

The thing is that that the gryro/servo is changing the pitch of the tail blades rapidly, which increases / decreases the loading. It is that which I predicted would wind up the wire, which acts as an undamped spring in the control system.

I suspect there would more likely be problems with a high speed tail servo.

i don't have a problem with vario/graupner and morley mechanics or my hirobo ghp346 running 401's with 9254 servo's with wire drive
but i don't hammer the tail hard with them
but flying a smoother style than the modern 3d helps
i would think if you tried to stick bang with it the tail would swing around all over the place in the load/unload conditions

the one big thing hh gyros and quick servo's don't like is a snake controling the tail, they hunt all over time trying to correct the tail thats lagging behind the gyro corrections

Yes...I agree. I think if I really stick banged and threw a faster tail servo there would be a problem. So far ive only flew the heli mildly. For all we know....it may still happen and wind up on me.
