  • Any Good?

Hi all, I have just been offered a raptor 60 v2 kit for £120 are these any good as i was thinking of a 50 scale instead from scratch. The raptor 60 kit is brand new in its box.. my mate bought it and never got into the hobby.. so im guessing it could be a good bargain.... Can i use 610 and 620 Align servos with it? What engine do you recommend with this scale model.. I'm not planning on doing any heavy 3d yet as im still currentley learning!

    Any help would be great!

    cheers

    thats a good price
you can put thunder tigers own engine in it but the os70 is a better bet
if you go for a webra 60 check the crank thread is correct for the fan
the align servos will work in it

i run an os 70 in my tt md500 and it works fine with the 10t pinion (std 60 one) and std maingear
it does have the 90 heli inside when it was running the 11t pinion it overheated
i'm also using the zimmerman 60 pipe but any 60/90 pipe will be ok
    zimmerman/hatori/muscle pipe
    Hirobo Turbulence D3
    a bunch of bls servo's and a 701 gyro

That is a very good price for a new or even good 2nd-hand Raptor 60.

By comparison though you can get a new .50 kit for just a bit more and sometimes even a bit less (Twister Pantera was going for £99.00).

There is an Ely.Q Vision 50 in the BMFA classifieds now at 99.00.

Crash costs might be cheaper with a belt driven tail vs the shaft driven tail on the Raptor 60. Main blades for a 50 are also a bit less expensive and fuel consumption will be a bit less.

On the plus side, the Raptor is a solid machine and parts are very available.

If your going to scale it then fine

Learn to fly on it... not recommended due to the repair bills....

Scale it but 1st fly it pod and boom make sure the whole thing is set up right before placing it into a scale body.

Align 610's should be fine there 5-6kg pull so should be okay

120 it is a bargain though IMO.

When you scale it the boom itself I advise you put a small screw into the boom to help hold it in place...

Also there's a mod on the tail you need to do but I cannot remember it, I'm sure someone else can chip with that mod you need to do. Stop the tail exploding!
