  • Tail Vibration

Tail vibration I have an old space baron which I just changed the gyro for the csm 180 non head hold and noticed that the tail was vibrating up and down a lot.
After few minutes flying suddenly started getting a noise I was just bringing it down when all drive went and hit the deck
after having a look over its striped the main drive gear hence falling out the sky.
Question is was the gyro causing the vibration up and down causing the main gear to fail or just bad luck and old age.

I had a vertical vibration on the tail on a raptor 60 years ago. It turned out to be a bent feathering spindle.
