  • iPhone Headspeed Tach

    Howdie,

Following on from a post the other day, i am intruiged about the iphone head speed tach.

Boggy and I were at the field today, and were chatting about iphone apps, and he mentioned about a wind speed app. So, i downloaded it and gave it a go. To be honest, it was pretty damn accurate with what it was reporting and our rough estimates.

So, on that permise, i have downloaded the Headspeed app. It will obviously need to be tested against something like the Skytach (Pete hope your listening as your the one holding the Skytach).

I dont expect it to report back exact figures, but if it can get between a 50 and 100 of what the Skytach reports then i think it will be a keeper.

Ill let you all know as and when i get the chance to run the tests.

    Rgds
    Aidi

i just had a search on the app store and came up with one that works on sound, this the one your on about? if so id not be overly confident about putting my iPhone on the floor under the heli while its at full chat!

Yep thats the one. From the instructions on iTunes, i guess they are the instructions for single handed operation. with a rubber protective case on the iphone i would be happy to put it on the ground (if it was dry).

Cant see why it would not work if your mate held it as you would a skytach. Ok, with a skytach you can be 20-30 ft away, but 10ft from a hovering heli is something we are all used to.

Only a practical test will really prove it.

if its as good as the wind app it'll be amazing. obviously it works using sound but our voices never upset it yet blow on the mike and it registered the speed! incredible for a 59p app
