Jesus Bolt? Someone on here had a bunch and they were good for 450 size
    Nik.

    Before you ask:

    About 2 miles
    Over £500
    Very difficult
    Over 80mph
NO, you can't have a go

If you're breaking Jesus bolts, maybe you over tightening it ?, or maybe you're using a fully threaded BOLT rather than the shouldered one that should be used ?

I've never broken a 600 Jesus (either top or bottom), even in a crash.

Edited to correct the mistake caused by my fat fingers on the keyboard !

ive never heard of anyone just breaking one in flight, either youve replaced it with a poor quality/wrong bolt or something else is amiss here. perhaps youve damaged it in a previous crash?

Yup you can put a higher grade bolt in it, but the standard should be fine, you are prob doing it up too tight.. What bolt had you put in it?

You never answered this question (although I did initially have a typo in it), it's VERY relevant to the discussion at hand.

You’re not using Stainless Steel bolts are you if you are that could be your problem as Stainless Steel will snap under load.

If not I’d go with the poor quality/wrong bolt idea if you were over tighten it you’d have problems with you bottom gear as it would be deformed.

HT Hexa bolts snapped on me when I tighten it too much. Fortunately it was still on terra firma. It did take me by surprise - we don't use torque wrench but may be we need it since helis are getting sophisticated and we have a numbers of suppliers/ manufacturers - some good manufacturers but a few are questionable.

sorry, yeah it was a stainless bolt!!!! was shoulderd tho, oh well, learn by my mistakes, it wasnt super tight in there, not tight enuff to deform nothing, tight enuff that it wasnt moving lol so stainless is a no no, lesson learnt! lol many thanks peeps!

I am supprised people trust stainless steel bolts in their heli's at all. I certainly dont after discovering myself how weak they are.
