      Hi Cali.

Please don't take this the wrong way, I don't mean to sound rude, or anything else, but, it does sound a bit unconvincing that a prospective champion should be asking the novices what equipment he should choose. I don't mean that in a sarcastic or nasty way, but it does sound rather daunting. I would have thought it would have been the other way round. lol.

Anyway, I wish you all the very best for the championships.

      Chris.
Please don't rush me, I'm in too much of a hurry.

My set up for 3dmasters was as follows:

        2x align night rope driver

        4x 1.5m night rope

        1x 600mm night blades align

        1x ms composite tail blades

        2x glow stick (for skids)

this set up allowed me to use 2 night ropes and a driver for the canopy. The other driver and 2 ropes allows you with 1 rope to go round boom and tail fin, the other around boom supports. The main blades i used were align but torsion also do a good set.

I presume you were lookinv for 600 size set up.

        For 450 i used:

        1x align driver

        2x 1.5m night rope

        align blades

that allowed the use of 1 rope for canopy the other for boom tail fin & skids.

Just because someone is good at flying it doesnt mean they automatically know everything about every bit of hardware out there, it just means they've had a lot of stick time.

That goes especially for something they havnt touched on before, eg night flying gear.
Political Correctness is a doctrine fostered by a delusional, illogical, liberal minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.

if you use a red flashlight for setting up, it won't wreck your night vision. Or so they say (no idea if your competition is really in the dark, or just dusk).

Seaerch ebay for the driver and night strings, always comes up when you search trex450 or 600. costs £10 delivered. Perhaps those tesco ones are less.
That ebay driver is dim on a 2 cell lipo and needs a 3s. I bought a tiny 450mAh 3S lipo that runs them for a very very long time.

With two drivers, better to split them so one driver does a sting on the conopy and one on the tail, and the other the same, then if a driver goes down you still have full orientation.

glow sticks of course, and throw some on the ground so you have a reference.

The align night blades are excellent and are a really good 3D blade.

You might try the K&B luminous night tail blades - those MS composite ones are nice but cost a packet. yuo don't acvrtually need lit tail blades but maybe its better for a competition.

Night flying is a bit wierd. Things don't happen the same. yuo will see what I mean when you fly - the strings are flashing and so are the blades effectively, so it is like you miss a few frames and the heli goes from full speed one way to full speed the other instantly. Make sure you get some practise. The problem is finding someone to stand in a dark field with you. Flying on your own in the dark is completely wierd.

While I'm here I will repeat my question again about align 425 night blades for the 500. Are they any good?
