  • Governor magnets

Got my revlock 10 today and had a look at the fittings. It's only got one magnet and in the blurb it says you can buy counter weights to balance the fan out.

I presume that running a counter weight is a good thing as it balances out the fan assembly, or is it such a small weight that it's not worth it ??

Does anyone run with just one magnet and no counter weight ?

Can I get counter weights from the likes of FL or Midland or do I need to go back to CSM ?

Should I super glue the magnet in or is the press fit good enough, even with the heat and vibrations ?

    any input welcome, thanks

Can't answer the weight issue. I used Araldite on my 600 magnets.

I use revlocks and just epoxied the magnet in and then a little epoxy on the other side of the fan with the recess for magnet in it ...not noticed n e vibes from it

I have recently fitted a Revlock 20 to my Vision 50. The fan had two recesses, so I turned up a bit of brass bar and made a counter weight.
If you PM me your address Martyn, I'll stick one in the post for you.

            Cheers

With my TJ Pro I mounted 2 magnets in opposite poles but I dont think you can do this with the CSM unit as it would register both magnets passing the hall effect sensor. The TJP one only reacts to one pole.

CSM say its no big deal using a counter weight, even though they sell them if you want to.

When I first started using Governors, I believed the BS that you needed to use a counter weight, I now know that it's BS and totally unnecessary, unless you're totally anal about engine vibrations

I push the magnet into the recess, add a drop of thin Cyno, and let that set (or kick it), then add a very thin layer of epoxy over the top (extending over the fan). Not had one drop out so far !

Why does it always persist down at weekends ?

Nice offer thanks. I will try it out with one magnet first and see how I get on. If I want to use a counter weight I will let you know.

Thanks everyone, I will go ahead and fit it now without having to order more bits..

New CF blades turned up today as well so should notice a nice difference when I fly it next time.
