  • New Align super starter coming soon

I just noticed this on Midlands website. The new super starter from Align is almost here...

It is a geared starter powered from a 3S lipo (trex450) and comes in a protective carry case. Looks tidy!

    Cheers,
    Rob

      Hi

Small shipment of them here in the next few days, Align claim up to 50cc motors and not 50 sized but I honestly don't know for sure, certainly the prototype ones had no problems with 90 engines which are of course 15cc!

      Cheers

The manual included with the starter makes the following statement.

        Battery : Lipo 3S1P 2100mah 16C (Referance Battery)
Engine Type, Loading Rotation Speed, Loading Amps, No.of Starts
        90 Nitro Engine, 2000rpm, Approx 8A, Approx 500
        50 Nitro Engine, 2200rpm, Approx 6A, Approx 850
        50cc Gasoline, 1550rpm, Approx 16A, Approx 220
        28cc Gasoline, 1950rpm, Approx 9.8A, Approx 300

        Hope this helps.

Looks a very neat unit and a good price, my starter which consists of a sullivan with a finer edge adapter, makita lipo batteries and robbe starter shaft stands me at a darn sight more than that. It does start 90's very easily.

but the price of the align one would make a second starter very attractive
              All the best

that looks very nice but i'll definitely be waiting many months before contemplating buying one. the gearing in starters of previous were shocking and always broke.

                  cheers

                    Hi

I agree with you, all the geared starters I have seen and used have been lacking some what, the prototype Align one worked well and assuming they didn't need to keep maintaining it constantly looks very promising.
I am very hopeful on this one but time will be the real test won't it:-)

                    Cheers

bob, i have a dynatron and robbe wand. money couldn't buy a better setup. it looks like a dogs dinner the way i have it together but it works and very consistantly. HOWEVER i do fancy something smaller that fits the box better so i'll keep an eye on this one.

i just can't imagine align actually making a gear worth a damn which is holding my purchase back.

                      cheers

I've always thought the traditional starter/wand/battery/wires is a really messy solution (which is why I use a cordless drill) but I think this Align unit looks like a much better way of handling the task of engine starting.

i have a pair of 3s lipos strapped to my dynatron like many others so it's very portable if somewhat large.

                          cheers

If it follows aligns trend it will strip a gear first try then release the magic smoke the second try : )

                            I'll get my coat
                            Cheers Daren

i like tony ( sesame) am using the dynatron with the finer edge adapter so i can use my makita 18v li-ion drill batteries coupled with a robbe wand.VERY NEAT SETUP
It starts my trex 700 no probs, and the good thing is if i forget to give it a charge,it only takes 12 mins.
Not a cheap set up,but if you like myself already own the drill c/w spare batteries, your half way there
With the align unit, it could be good for anyone starting out it and value for money
                              cheers
