Just had another really good day at the field but now got home and had to change my bearings again can they not make them last any better??? It probably don't help that i am learning tic tocs and i have been told that if you do to many it makes the heli eat bearings. Oh well still had a really good days flying.

Its the nitro content in the fuel that eats the bearings.. Mostly while stood for periods of time not in use.
Nothing to do with doing "Tictocs".
As quoted learn to live with it, I have used after run oil in my engines and still bearings go bad.

Although you would like them to last like your car's crankshaft bearings it is better if you treat them as consumables.
If you have a DX7 and haven't done the bearing mod yet then when you place an order with rc-bearings.com RC-Bearings.com just order a load of hyper bearings as well. I would order in the ratio of 1 set + 3 back bearings. The guy is great, he charges very little for postage and the bearings work out at about £2.50 each. (Might be less now with changes in the exchange rate)

Thanks for the info guysI have got a local supplier that i get them from at a resonable price. I have come to that way of thinking now as i have done 2 set in a few months but hey thay do get used quite alot as i fly 4 days a week so it is expected. The ones i just replaced have only just started to get noisy today and noticed the engine bogging a little so thought i would just get it over and done with.
Regards
Neil

Replacing bearing on a Trex600, is a 20min job, from extracting the engine from the model to replacing it back in, having stripped the engine down and replaced the offending item. I did it today at the field on one of my 600'sOnly special tools required is a miniature blow torch, to heat the engine case to extract the bearing, and one of those OS crankshaft "locking" tools, oh and a rag, otherwise you have to juggle with a very hot engine.
SMB bearing have got OS50 rear bearings, with plastic cage (not phenolic, but very close) at about £7 each, price varies dependant on the quantity you buy. Their url is Miniature Bearings, Stainless Steel Bearings, Electric Motor Bearings, Plastic Bearings, Thin Section Bearings, EZO Bearings . Their price is about half the cost of an OS branded item.
As a matter of interest, they also do a metal caged version, but these are only rated at 24000 RPM, rather than 45000 for the plastic caged version.
The basic bearing code is 6902 (15x28x7).Janek
Why does it always persist down at weekends ?
