Crashes like this alway bemuse me. Very unlucky in this case. Saw a 700 at our field last year go in from much the same height and it made twice the thud when it hit the deck. Damage... Skids, Blades and it popped a couple of links. No justice at times! I guess its all down to the way it kisses the dirt!

I think this kind of vid should have a health warning and carry a 18 cert like all violant films.

Because it could be you, unless you have a perfect pair of thumbs?

and it's heartbreaking because we can appreciate the time and money that went into putting that together and understand what's involved in repairing or replacing it.

Not really even sure it was pilot error. It pitches up violently (unlike anything else in the video), then you hear the engine speed drop (throttle hold?) and see the heli rolled over. I wonder if one of the servo/ swash links didn't fail.

You can hear the guy say ''I lost orientation'' so I think it's fairly certain to be pilot error. Shame though, that's got to be a re-kit.

It looked to me as though that was an ambitious move from a pilot who was well out of his comfort zone.
That said I dont like to see anybody crash, and that looks a new kit job.

there's too much damage there for a crash in throttle hold, I suspect that went in with full power and probably the stick at full positive or negative pitch, hence all the damage.
You want to avoid damage like that then hit throttle hold when you crash even whilst simming, it's good practice. I rarely fight a crash, if it looks like it's going in I go for hold early and minimise the potential damage.

total agree with ash, if in any doubt hit the hold!!!! saves you shed loads of cash!!! trust, i had the king pin snap on my 600 bout 60/70ft up, hit the thottle hold, all i broke was the skids, the bottom tray and a blade grip

have to agree, pilot error due to running out of skill and luck. Shame about the amount of damage though.
