      No 3d
Had a look at some info with it on a trex which had temp sensor fitted it showed that it kept the temp to 110 really well.
They seem to get good reports.

i use one my self, but if your not pushing the heli and not making the engine work hard not really any reason for one TBH. when your doing 3D you start to bog the engine and that makes the engine heat up more and you lose power, with the carbsmart fitted to a 3D heli it will make sure it keeps the power coming by keeping the temp right.

But if your not doing 3D and you wont be making the engine work hard there no need to have one as you wont have much of a engine temp change

that said (and I agree) if you aren't great with engine tuning they can take a lot of the pain out of getting an engine running right (and safely).

Just want to say that the carbsmart on my Trex 700 with OS 91 SZ-H has totally transformed it. Constant power all through a flight now. Whether or not you would see an improvement on a 30 though remains to be seen.

Main reason was I piston and liner go but this was more due to the clunker line had rotted and motor went lean.

Far better to learn how to tune the engine.

you have to know how to tune an engine in the first place to set up a carbsmart correctly

In my experience the 91 SZ-H (non pumped) runs leaner towards the end of a tank. What this is I dont know but it does. I could land and retune if I wanted (because I know how to ) but I prefer letting something else do it, that way I dont have to land.

The gain on the carbsmart is a very useful tool. If left at factory/50% I found it would richen up way too fast and stay rich. I imagine this is where most people get stuck with the carbsmart and give up. I would of too if it wasnt for a bloke in my club who knew I needed to drop the gain. A 1/8th reduction on the gain pot and it is bang on every time.

IF setup right the carbsmart is worth its weight in gold. Just my opinion.
