  • faulty new parts ?

    Hi,

how many of you have had new parts supplied that turn out to be faulty ??

In my 3 months of flying and ordering parts I've had a faulty servo and a bent tail rotor shaft. I have not ordered that much stuff TBH and I am just wondering if I've been unlucky or is it the norm with helicopter spares ?

Both parts came from reputable suppliers and both replaced the parts without question, that's not the issue, just interested to know what other people experiences are.

I don't want this to become a name and shame thread and if it does I will get it deleted..

    thanks for reading

Been lucky so far in two ways:

              1) I've not crashed so I've not needed spares
              2) all of my build parts have been fine.

So far with new heli parts I have not had anything faulty.

I have had faulty power tools (jigsaw)

A brand new and rather expensive espresso machine developed a fault within about a month, was under warrantee and I had to schelp across town, then wait two weeks, then schelp over to collect it. Then the same fault happened again and this time I opened it up and fixed it myself (the serviceman who did the first fix only paid lip service to the problem by making an adjustment to compensate rather than getting to the bottom of it).

I had a faulty printer from Amazon, returned for a refund. (now the replacement runs out of ink almost instantly so I'm ready to bin it)

If I spent time to think about it I'm sure lots of other things. My almost new washing machine fried out and the cost to fix it would have been more than a new one so it was totalled.

All things considered the helis have been pretty reliable

I have been lucky too. Many parts ordered over the last year ( I break too many ie I am rubbish at flying) and no faulty items so far

l think a lot will depend on which helis you fly. There is a difference in quallity controll between the top end and bottom end manufactures. Same with your radio gear. The shop you get them from has very little chance, all they can do is replace them or not, again it depends on the quallity of the shop.
