  • servo and wiring

    hi, just another quick question,
can i wrap wires around a servo? im tryin to get my wiring nice and tidy and one way iv come up with is to wrap the excess wiring around one of the servos. my dad thought this might be a bad idea because he thought it might cause interference problems ect.iv only wrapped it around once.

would this be a problem or im i ok to continue?

    cheers Jon
    Thanks

Can you zig-zag the wire back and forth and then secure it with tape to the bottom of the case?

this is what iv come up with, the wires going along the top then tucked under neath.
          Thanks

I would suggest not doing what you have done in the photo. Especially if they are digital servos, as I believe they are more susceptible to inteference issues than analogue ones. i would try seeing if you can bring the servo wires out and bunch them in a bundle with a zip tie or a velcro strap. That way there is now way the motor in the servo can pick up a stray signal from the signal wire. Also is it just the light in the photo or have those wires been slightly stripped of their insulation from being too tightly bound?

                Hi SpeedyJohn

That looks like a Trex 600 you have there...in which case you can do as Helimadlarry suggests and bring the wires out, bunch them in a bundle and zip tie...and that bundle should tuck in and sit behind the plastic 'nose mount' for the electrics. I wish I had a photo of mine to help my description but sadly don't have one.

Hope my description makes some sense.

helimadlarry its just the flash on camera that made the wiring look bit dodgy.

Are you using 35MHz or 2.4GHz?

If your on 2.4G you definatly wont get any interference regardless of how you run them.

I got to the stage of wiring with my 600, and got so frustrated trying to make wires tidy I decided to buy a pack of plugs and pins and cut them all to the right length. hope to be doing that over the next couple of nights, and i will let you know when I have done.

I got a bunch of plugs and pins and a crimper to make my own cables too.... Not happy with their quality (pins OK but the plug & socket cases are naff) - where did you get yours?

One thing you can do is carefully remove the old housings a re-use them
