  • Grease or light oil.

Having read this thread on Helifreak I had the same problem as this guy and it made me wonder..

I never use oil or light oil on my one way bearings but do apply silicone grease to them.

Who is right and who is wrong.

What do you lubricate them with.

My one way bearing on my main gear/autorotation gear was locking up every flight not long ago, Applied silicone grease very regular but that never stopped it either.

Since fitted a new bearing (with grease) and its fine now.

I use silicone grease on bearings. I occasionally use some thin oil on shafts if I have dome, or a ptfe based lube spray.

              Cheers,

Am I right i thinking that Tri-flow is the same as "3-in-One Oil"?

I use tri-flow oil in mine, remove all the grease first with acetone then lightly oil

Not saying it is the answer but I've never really had a problem unless I have over tightened the bolt to the mainshaft

I use Microlube GL261 for one-way bearings, and Robbe Metall-Lager for the other bearings. Seems to do the trick for me

                        I'd say no.

Tri-Flow is a familly. There's a grease, and an oil (maybe others ?).

Both TFs shout that they contain PTFE (Teflon).

The oil claims to penetrate & protect.

I suspect the grease includes silicon grease.

I quite like the Maplin silicon grease & PTFE spray. You can apply small amounts to small moving parts - it does contain a solvent, though.

Tri flow contains ptfe standard 3 in 1 doesnt.

A good way to clean the one way is to spray the bearing and clean it out using wd40. Use a clean cloth (that doesnt shread fibres) to soak up and remove dirt.

Then fill the bearing with Tri flo or atf.

This is what i do (flame suit on)

FWIW, Tim, the manual says use grease.
