As much as I'd like to have a full size to land in my garden I certainly wouldn't, it's inconsiderate and selfish.

Don't you have to have planning permission to operate a private airfield in your back garden?

As much as I love to be close to and around things aviation, this behaviour in a residential area by any neighbour of mine, and the pilot, I would view as unacceptably thoughtless and a total disgrace. I would raise hell with the authorities, including the CAA.

Given that it's bad enough when the Muppet next to me has unannounced and huge gatherings in a marquee on a Saturday night, when me and the Missus just want some quiet after a weeks work, I reckon I'd be in the market for a black market SAM launcher if he got a similar toy.

Im surprised they get away with it in such a residentual area.

a friend of mines Son had a Gazelle which they parked outside their house, you could see driving past on the A13, but then their house was out on its own in the middle of fields. used to have to ship it off in crates to america I got told for the servicing, dunno how true that is.

As much as I love helis I wouldn't put up with that happening too often, although being the daily fail I suspect the story is somewhat exaggerated.

A couple of years ago when i was on holiday in the brecons, the cottage next to us was having some building work done, one of the workmen fell of the scaffolding and the garden was big enough for an air ambulance to land in, was hell of a noice and dust, leaves etc went everywhere so i can see why see doesn't like it, we obviously were loving it, but if it happened all the time you would soon be pig sick

The lawn come helipad does appear to be close to the house on one side and trees on its adjacent side. Surely there is a safety issue with landing a helicopter here... I have known people that have helicopters but their houses and land is significant and their helipad is always away from anything. That said 76dB isnt that bad, I suspect my mower is louder...

"if" it's only a couple of times a week then I can't see it's a big issue really, obvously if it's several times a day then that could get a little much.

I live right under the flight path for Booker airfeild, don't know if my info is out of date but it was the 3rd busiest in the UK for aircraft movements but fortunately most of them are light aircraft.
I knew this when I moved there and it really doens't bother me at all.

                  Cheers

Actually, no. You have to have the landowners permission, and you can operate a private landing strip under the '28 day rule' without planning or other permission. Safety can over-ride this.

However the CAA may intervene if there are safty issues, or damage or nuisence is being caused.... and in this case I think there may be a case for the CAA to check this out.

Local Councils can also intervene; - anyone remember the South Cambs District Council mayhem some 10-15 years ago, when they all but shut down most private GA activity from farm strips and grass airfields in the South Cambridgeshire region and imposed draconian restrictions on those that faught back - all caused by a single but powerful Counciller with a vindictive vendetta against all Light and Sport aviation?
