  • Servos dying ?

We have had a few problems with servos dying at our field, mostly seems to be Hitec 5485HB's and 325HBs one guy lost a Futaba XXXX on his too.

    Is this due to 6v?

If in idle up its sitting loaded in one position at max voltage for a long duration.

Common factors in all the set ups are t-rex 600s with align regulators and lipos.

    Any thoughts ?

I was going to try an inline regulator on the throttle and take it down to 4.8v

Could it be the extra vibration transfered through the engine, along the link and into the servo?

I thought the carb moved with the vibration, opened/closed slightly. ?

If the servo truely sat still then it won't be the motor that burns out as it won't be getting any volts. The electronics are always at max voltage regardless of what position the servo horn is at. Both servos are rated at 6 volts by Hitec.

Do you have a voltmeter to check the output of the regulator? Someone posted on here the other day that theirs was outputting the wrong voltage.

From those three it really can only be the regulator. Can you measure the voltage? Maybe its letting more than 6V through.

So you need to check all three then as Tosh and I suggest.

When the engine is ideling if you hold the link you may feel extra vibrations.

Maybe the servos are being overdriven?

Some people say its better not to use a digi servo on the throttle.

Also plastic gears in the servo may be beter (vibration)?

                Just some thoughts

just tested my heli, getting 5.84v at rest and drops to 5.80v when everything is going nuts.

are you using governers on the helis? as this works the throttle servos pretty hard, what engines are you using? as i had a redline that killed a servo due to a sticking carb
