  • OS 50 Hyper Hot Start at Idle

    Heya All,

My fan hub seems nice and tight as ive started it a couple of times now all good

But, this one time i started it, it hot started like mad, so i just held the fual tubing till it died, and checked the fan and its nice still in place anyhoow, i checked the radio over, all at idle, trim at idle, then checked the carb arm, and rightly so its just past the "Carb Completly Closed" mark, so it was in idle position,

So, What the hell happend?... since the carb and all was at idle ect, but yet it fired up at full throttle..

    regards
    Callum

    Edit:

Just realised i posted in the wrong section, could a mod please move it thanks

Did you check the radio and rx had linked before trying to start it, i.e did all the cyclic servo work, always a good test, sometime they don't connect on the first attempt

add to that, if you had to reverse the throttle channel in setup, if not rebound your failsafe would be full chat

Yep need to rebind with throttle at zero, when you turned on the power and didn't connect would of gone to full throttle, expecially as you did reverse the throttle channel the other day callum, so it thinks full throttle is closed, then you will also have to reset the gov.

I always check my stick position/switches and always make sure that the RX's have a solid red light before i attempt to start the engine, i even check the carb postion at low stick to make sure its just past fully closed before i start,

I also checked fail safe a few hours ago, and that all checked out fine.

          Edit:

should i always start the heli with the Govonor off?

Also make sure you're not in idle up.

            Cheers,

It'd run a bit faster than idle if it was leaning out due to fuel starvation but not full chat. If it started running full bore it must be a radio/servo problem opening up the carb.
No matter how much fuel you give these little engines they wont run at full tilt unless they have air as well, and that can only get in if the hole on the top of the carb barel is open to allow it through.
Check the radio settings, that's about all it can be.

                Hmmm,

Shall do, but i always look at the carb before i start and it was at idle,.

Ile let it go this time, but if it happens again, then ile ile plunge more deeper, fail safes are all set ect,

unless the screw into the carb arm has come loose then the servo will move but the barrel will move independantly and can easily stay open.
                  All the best

                      hint for nitro hot start:
Squeeze the exhaust shut (the silicon tube where the hot exhaust gases come out). Instant death.

Just thinking Callum, since you have had the engine apart to do the hub, i don't suppose the rubber seal around the carb is either damaged or missing, that would let loads of air in and make it run fast, vacum pipe ok, not holed or split
