  • trex 450 pro motor help

i just fitted new top bearing in my 450 pro motor but now it runs very hot.
does anyone now why this is.
also what would be a good alternitive motor as just cant seem to get a replacement pro motor anywhere.

    regards

If you have the pinion gap incorrectly set, (too tight) that might cause the motor to run hot.

Scorpion 2221-8 is a great motor, very powerful and mine runs very cool even when stick banging in comparison when I flew the pro the motor was roasting hot. I can't imagine it lasting too well in comparison to the scorpion which I've had for over a year now

the 450 pro motor runs very hot anyway..even from new.

If you don't like the heat..as Jamiem says, the scorpion 2221-8 is a good motor to replace it with.

how do you set the pinion gap.

Some people place a piece of paper or similar between the gears to get the gap, but I prefer the method below.

Push the pinion lightly up to the main gear and then keep turning the main gear to find where the closest point is to the pinion. I then set the gap at this point so there is a tiny amount of free play.
