  • Power supply repair

    Hi guys,

I have one broken PC power supply and one broken charger power supply (20A Ripmax dual output). Defiantly electrical problems with both of them.

Just wanted to know where you can get them repaired around Berkshire?

    Thanks,

    Laurence

    Hi Laurence

PC power supplies (unless top of the range expensive high spec jobs) are rarely repaired nowadays. It is more cost effective to replace them. New ones are available from most PC component suppliers, here are a couple I use regularly.

    DABS
    OverClockers

The telephone number for the Ripmax service centre is 020 8282 7510. They're probably your best bet for repairs to the charger PSU.

Thanks Pete, unfortunately I have opened the power supply to remove dust from it before, was getting quite bad in the vents and couldn't get to it from outside. There was also a loose bit of solder in them from the factory which kept moving around so I got rid of that. It has worked for months after that fine. I did put my friends 500 (550mm) packs on there and it did struggle it absolutely stunk out the house but still has worked about a month after that okay, until today.

My PC power supply is a Corsair HX, was one of the best you could get, for some reason it only lasted about two years though... Other than that it was so good I got another one as soon as it broke. They wanted me to send the old one back overseas for it to be repaired, costing a lot of money... Not worth all the hassle.

I've found a good electricians power supply rated at actual 25A with good reviews which I'll be getting.
