I can sort of see both sides of the argument, he's no threat but the fact that he escaped from prison after 15months and lived it up is justification to leave him in there. However, I can see the point that if it were today you'd be given a Nobel prize and an honorary peerage for the same crime.

So if a person of mature years commits a crime from their armchair, Tosh, perhaps a cyber crime or one of a non-violent nature, they shouldn't serve a custodial sentence then, even if they just cleaned out your bank account or had pics on their computer of an illegal sexual nature?

Perhaps not the best analogy but I'm sure you can see what I'm getting at.

He elected to spend his younger years free and enjoying life instead of serving his time, he doesn't get to play the 'age' card now he is doing what he should have done a long time ago.

I'm sure he would feel he got the better end of this trade.

Not saying that Mart. l was all in favour till l thought about the murderers and rapists that we are letting out early because we dont have the space to reafend within days of release. l`d rather keep one of them in.

He's prob got the money due to his 'notariety' if nothing else to have private specialist treatment and nurses to help with his every whim.

Sad to say but many of us and our relatives will not be so lucky being left to see out our final days without the care we all deserve.

Let him rot in jail, he got 30 years, and served less than 2 years initially before his escaped, he owes his debt to society.

He's stuck his finger up to the UK many times (and is still doing it by reports in the media), it's about time we did the same to him.

Didn't he essentially roll-over on the extradition fight because of his ill-health and come back to Blighty to take advantage of our healthcare system?

Stay in South American and die, or come back and rot. Seems to me me he made his own choice and was damn lucky we didn't fight to leave him where he was to save some money.

Maybe to keep him inside could just get the message across to a few more nasty little people out there, that perhaps they might just get treated the same way when they cross the line. God knows we do need to be sending a stronger message to miscreants of all persuasions - and through a high profile, and long running case like this is a good way.

Release him and the damn tabloids will turn the little toad into a folk hero (if they haven't enough already).

...... and I take your point. The underlying issue is the need for a complete overhaul of our judicial and penal system - and that doesn't mean dealing with the twats by interviewing them by the dangly earring, leather armpatch, PC brigade, then releasing them with a crystal set on their ankles.

My house having all but been destroyed recently by some amoeba who was out on bail pending sentence doesn't sit too well with me. He eventually got 3 years, but did our life over big-time when he should have already been inside. He got no extra time for our disaster because 'forensics' couldn't tie him completely to the scene - even though he was seen in MY sodding car doing ANOTHER job the same day.

Yes this is exactly what l`m saying. We need more prisons, lots more. l have no sympathy for Biggs what so ever but there are a lot more dangerous people than him doing a few hours litter picking on a sunday morning. lf he`d have robbed you or me he may have got a few years but he got 30 because he robbed the government.

Im a bit unsure tbo in this day i doubt he would get anything like 30 years , now im not saying thats right because it seems like even for murder you may get life , but in reality you would be unlikely to serve more than about 10 years and that is wrong . It seems like half of the murders comitted are by people on bail for some other serious crime . Another case that really annoys me is the Lockerbie bomber , they have or are about to release him on Compassionate grounds because he has Cancer . Now ill bet the familys of those murdered by him are really upset . Ronny Biggs did'nt kill anyone personally as far as i am aware . Rob

He's probably thinking he's had such a good life prior to serving his time & now with many dreams of back then I'd doubt if he's really bothered about the remaining time as he's also well cared for.
