The main issue really is that his primary motive appears to be selling rather than flying and none of us go to the field at the weekend to be sold to. It's definitely not a snobbery thing.

I guess we'll have to bare it out and let him make his own mind up - go away or get stuck into flying.

Or maybe we could just set the dogs on him.

So, just so I have my bearings. Honeybee = bad, anything bigger than a wasp = good.

Not got time to read each post but isn't this a bit of heli snobbery?? Make the guy feel welcome & explain you don't do ebay but sure he can join & fly. If i went to a club were i was being an outcast coz i have a Logo & not a Trex or Outrage i'd get an impression that club flyers are to55ers. No i'm not calling you all to55ers

Believe me, if you'd met the guy, you'd think he was a pr**k as well! Steve was very polite in his description, all things considered.

Having experienced the same "first contact", which involved being given an ebay 'business card' by way of introduction, it kinda went down hill from there really. He had a HBK from eBay which he was extremely proud to have got for £50...and wanted to join the club to learn how to fly...and yet in discussion (as I suggested he get a sim and practice tail in/nose in etc there as its cheaper in parts ) he said he is also fine tail in, nose in etc as he demos the e-helis he sells...so either he does know his arse from his elbow or he doesn't...and imho I think he's out to sell crap and get his heli setup for him, rather than anything else.

Time will tell I guess.

Tell him to ditch the cards, if he was any good at selling on ebay then we would know who he is already and there are enough idiots out there ready to sell you there crap without some dunce trying to to put a downer on a fantastic hobby.
I'm all for helping noobs etc but if he comes across as a prick in the first 5 seconds then he is not worth the hassle, your lucky i'm not in your club coz i'd just tell him straight to buy a blade or better if he genuinely wants to learn or to fu*k off and open a shop if he wants to sell shit.

Sorry for rant i been at work all day in searing heat with no air con and im rather grumpy, i also speak my mind but i think the grumpiness took over there

After he'd left the field, the overwhelming consensus with the members was that he's a complete and utter twit and nobody is interesting in him peddling toy helicopters. If he wants to learn to fly then at least get a TRex 450 and then come back, without any naff business cards or any ulterior motives.

What subtle techniques would you suggest to get rid of this guy, or are we being unreasonable?

Can i point out that you have a spelling mistake. I have highlighted the offending word, and in this chaps case, i think swapping the "i" for an "a" would be appropriate.
