  • One man & Blade 400 fly for the first time

Well after months of flying on Phoenix and doing small hovers in my garage I have been waiting for good weather on either of my two days off for what feels like years, But today they said it would thunder but the skies where clear so I thought it's now of never. So I finally faced the taking the heli to the flying flield and everybody will be watching me moment.

I nearly did not fly as the wind seemed to pick up a little but I thought you have come this far after months of practice in the garage and on the sim you can not back out now. So after the all important pre-flight checks and saftey checks I took her up.

There she was just hanging about 8 feet in a good hover so I did some trimming and get her about right and after about 10 mins the ESC reported the the drop a in battery power so down she came to good landing.

Well I sat down for ten min's trying to understand what had just happerned, finally my legs stopped shaking and I put the heli back to pre-flight config and went home.

I am now here telling you I am over the moon.

Thank you every who has given my advice and support.

Well done! 10 mins is a pretty decent flight time even for hovering. What kind of batteries are you using? I always found the standard Eflite one's a littl weak and only ever got about 6 or 7 mins just hovering. I remember my first field flight with the Blade 400, my fingers shook so much it was hard to fly!

          Thanks guys..

Its hard to explain the feeling you get at the time and now after it, after months of practice and dreaming of your first real flight.

Now its happerned I feel very emotional that I was able to fly it, even if it was just hovering, you'd think I had just taken my first real solo in real heli.

Oh well just caught up in the moment

Well done! Welcome to the world of RC Helis. The highs & lows (pun intended) are incredible. I can still remember my maiden like it was yesterday (only a couple of months, actuallly ) The buzz is outstanding, never felt anything like it. Have fun!
