  • Dave Fisher Avro / Align

I was reading the entry list for the 3D masters last night and note Dave is Flying two T-Rex 700s. Given he designed at least in part the Avro why does he not fly them.

I know the Avro is a much heavier machine suited for F3c but still seems strange. Any thoughts.

Perhaps he has to pay for his own machines and it's cheaper to buy and kit out two 700's?

He was also flying a Trex700 at Charmouth, he gave someone what appeared to be a bullsh1t answer when asked about it, something along the lines of using them as test machines for design changes to the Avro. . . . .ummm, yea right !

Why does it always persist down at weekends ?

Maybe he just likes the Aligns?

It seems very odd. Cost would be a possible reason but for god sake he must get spares for free!!

Test machines... cant see that at all. As for liking Aligns yep guess he can choose whatever he wants to fly and maybe he does like them but to be honest it seems a massive kick in the balls for Blitz

could be as simple that, due to lack of sales Avro are finding it hard to support fully sponsored pilots and have had to cut back a bit.

Personally, i don't believe for one minute that it is a question of testing... or why would he be flying a 700 at the masters? surely he could "test" it at his own field without entering it into the masters?
or just another thought, ever seen anyone really razzing a blitz with hard core 3d? no me neither.. but I do stand to be corrected if someone has.

            just my opinion.

Are you now thinking of getting rid of your Avro and getting a 700?!!!!

You know my thoughts on the 700 - I love mine to bits!!

Country & Western should be test flying his 700 this weekend.

I've stood next to Dave while he's put an Avro through most of the book guys... and his auto's were something to behold

Maybe he's a bit precious of his F3c birds or has a F3c comp soon after so can't afford a prang?

Hiya Paul, I asked the question just out of interest to be honest as it seemed very strange. It would be like Steve Gerrard flying a Blitz in competition and it got me wondering why. I do have long term concerns about Avro parts availability though.

NO WAY will I get rid of the Blitz the quality is amazing and I will love it forever!!!

Had major problems with the 600. F Steve has worked on it for over a week now including one full 12 hour day and we are still not 100% confident its Ok. So I am looking for a replacement and guess it will be a 700 as I love the look of them and have been impressed by yours.

RJX was a possibility but very uncertain about them and cost wise a second Avro would be little different. The 700 wins on value every day so as a machine to fly every day to be honest its the only way to go.

I watched Dave fly both FAI routines and 3D a few weeks ago. He has two Blitz Avros for his FAI competitions and was (on that day anyway) doing his 3D with a TRex 700 flybarless.

That was impressive wasn't it Steve?!

That's the first time I've seen that quality of flying that close (to me...and to the pilot) and it was great to see the 700 flybarless (and the Avro) up close.

Must say, those FAI boys are also very impressive.

You're more than welcome to have a fly of one of my 700's to see what you think.

Probably because Barrowboy is struggling to fill the Master with pilots, I'd guess that's Dave's taking Whilt-shires normal position . . . . i.e. last
