  • Not the best of days

Well today my aurora seemed to think it was a 700 and stripped its main gear in flight, managed to get it down with a bounce and broken undercarriage so not a good start to the day and then a bolt came loose on the outrage and caused it to have a heppy fit but luckaly ok and now sorted, then to top it off, my lads beam somehow sheared the collor that passes through the one way bearing and the tail drive gear causing an explotion almost and down came Ashleys beam into a crumpled mess with one broken frame and other bent bits.
So on to order all the bits up and spend half my eves this week in repairs.
That is 3 mechanical failiures in one week on 3 different helis, i am sure aligns were never this fussy

i had a similar weekend last week. first off the vision's rx went up the spout causing a funny bounce on spool up (onlt about £20 of damage), then the beam threw a mixing arm, then the 500 did the same! no damage on the 500 and minimal on the beam. Not repaired yet, not even ordered. will get round to it this week

I had a week of that week before last, 550 had a servo failure..... broken blades, boom etc.
The HC500 stripped a gear (my fault), the 450 PRO had a front gear set go on a bit of a rough landing. You get a run of those and you seem to be spending a lot of time on the bench and none in the air.

Just got to get on with it Ron, had a few more flights afterwards, even gave Marks aurora a bit of a thrash after mine was out of service, in fact the last flight i had of the day was my best, though i was not flying my best today.
Was a shame about ashleys, he tried to get it down but just thumped in on the skids thats what broke the frame.

I try not to let it bother me, usually on the day I get pretty stroppy, particularly if the machine crashed itself rather than me doing it, but then you just get on with it.

Chin up James.... it was just one of those days and as Harry said, these things happen!! LOL... the truest and funniest moment of the day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Feel lucky to have saved my Aurora too after a snapped link. The Blue flaming technique to free up the links is all well and good but i fear it has weakened them and now there is a trust issue. May change them all and start again!

The rest of my helis were on song and i enjoyed my flying although i was not really in the groove either. I think once there are a few misshaps it effects your confidence even if your not on the sticks yourself.

Have to say though its my trusty 500 and 600 that just do what they say on the tin and although i love my 90 it refuses to play ball at present. Mind you i wouldnt swap it for a 700!!!

Finally.... if every day was easy and went to plan, it would get boring. The good days make it all the worth while IMHO

James, my first two main gears meshed crap, then on the third the mesh is good.

Mark, I have just changed all my links as I too over blue flamed them. Take a close look at them and if you see small bubbles then you overcooked them.

Unlucky mate. It happens now and then. One minute the fleet is perfect, then the gremlins creep in and cause problems.

Chin up mate. It will all come good this week once you get cracking on the repairs.
