  • Hosting pics on the forum question

Hi guys, well more addressed to Stuart and the mods.

On various photographic sites I use they do not allow uploading of pics onto the site as it uses valuable disk space on the servers. This is why most contributors to those sites use third party hosting sites and just link to the shots in the forums.

However, I note on this site you can do both - upload and link.

Which is best for you, Stuart and the mods?

I have always been using Photobucket to host my files and then link to them using the [IMG] tags, thinking this is saving you storage space. If you'd rather I upload them tho do let me know.

    Cheers.

A few factors space / bandwidth and speed.

Yes it will take space so I would ask that if you know how to do then optimise the image for web surfing you don't need massive images and huge dpi for web.

If your linking to a remote website from your image on here then use the gallery to store your images.

    The above effect bandwidth

If your hosting outside and into here then its all about speed really and remembering that when you delete remotely all those sites that you linked it into will result in deadlinks. Your then using another sites space and bandwith.

Locally we are using about 7GB of space.
    Cheers
    Stuart
