  • Problem with my club

    Hi guys

What a nightmare! The club that I joined only a month or so ago is having problems with its licence and may well end up having to close as a result!

Just as I was getting to grips with things too!

Fingers crossed and let's hope they can sort the problem.

    Hi Martin
Sorry to hear your club having problem in renewing license. Hope it get sorted amicably... but for heaven's shake do not invite BMFA to solve this problem - it'll be a sure kiss of death for your club... nothing more I'll say now or ever.

    Good Luck

You need land owners permission to fly - that's referred to as licence. Nothing more - normally such license are renewed every 5 years or so depending on the agreement you have with the landowner.

you should also have planning for change of use. if you do it in the early stage you might not get any objections. you run a risk of some busybody finding out that you didn't change the use of the land. we all know what they are like. i am sure its cat D (leisure) what you need. it saves problems in later months. it will cost £350 hope this helps
            cheers,

Ok thanks for the info. We have been there for 6 months now and touchwood no complaints. Come to think of it there is no-one there to complain, its way out in the sticks

So Martin, is it the landowner causing the problem then? that stinks!

We potentially have 5 wind turbines going up on our field in the next year. We are on a constant rolling 6 months notice which sucks. The only saving grace is that the farmer has something like a thousand acres so should be able to re-home us if the need arrises. The only trouble we may has is that right now we are miles from any houses (other than the farmers buildings) and I have a feeling anything else suitable will be much closer to houses so that could cause us some grief.

Well I may have located (as suggested by Dedcalm) another flying field which is not too far from my house. Apparently it doesn't require membership of any kind either. Tis called Tank Hill in Chobham.

Gonna pop down there and size it out over the weekend perhaps.

Thanks Kluson. Curiously enough I PMd Fatmantom earlier to ask about that.

Not heard from the little fella in a while. Is he OK?

I said this a couple of weeks ago, apparently he is not doing much flying just now! He was talking to Dan on MSN i think?

On a scale of 0 to 3D, about 1.53 and counting (backwards at the moment...). Getting there though, 0.1D at a time!

Glad to say that the license for the club that Mart61 and I fly at has been renewed after the club had to jump through hoops (safety assessment etc.) and last weekend was the 1st weekend after the renewal. That said I will still take you to Tank Hill as it might come in handy should you ever fancy a plank as well as the helis...
