    CRASH!!!

Im a bit annoyed at myself as I managed to crash for the first time tonight.

The damage is pretty severe, the Belt CP might be dead...

I bought two new batterys so my first two flights were just flying around gently. During the second flight it started to get quite windy but it was ok when flying gently.

The third flight started very well, my new carbon blades worked very well and I did a few very good traveling flips and then decided to do some stall turns.
On about the fourth turn I the wind blew the heli sideways towards me and into the sun. I couldnt really see which way the hei was going and before I knew it I had flown into the ground at pretty much maximum speed..

It was a very hard hit and there isnt much left of the heli.

There is probably some damage ive not noticed yet but this is most of it.

The frame snapped in half infront of the mainshaft breaking all four chassis plates.
    The maingear is broken.
The boom snapped into 3 peices
One blade was damaged (the other survived)
    The flybar is banana shaped.
    The feathering shaft is bent
    The mainshaft is bent.
I lost the tail control arm.
I lost a pitch control arm.
Lots of balljoints broke as well as some of the plastic head peices.
A ball has sheared off in the bladeholder.
    The skids snapped in half
The canopy is a bit smashed up.

The battery was about 20ft further up the feild but appart from a small dent seems undamaged
All my electrics look ok, I dont think I broke any servo gears or damaged any wiring (but I will have to strip the heli down and test everything)

Im not quite sure what to do now.

I do have some spare plastic bits, including a frame that I could transplant the rest of my parts onto. I will still need to buy some new bits but this will be the cheapest way to fix it.

I dont have all that much money to spend at the moment, I have been looking at buying a beam but I dont think I can afford it.

I thought I would be more upset, im mainy annoyed that im unlikely to get it fixed this weekend so I wont have anything to do.
I am quite annoyed I broke my new blades after only 6 flights

So the lesson is... dont be overconfident when its windy and dont let the heli drift towards you in a turn... keep it at a safe distance so it wont go into the sun
This lesson will be an expensive one, but I guess thats heli flying for you

At least it wasnt an expensive 700

For the ghoulish amongst you I will post a few pics later once I have found the camera and had a smoke

Ouch. Sorry to hear that Holst.

Once you loose it in the sun then unless your very lucky I don't think you have much chance.

Hope you get back in the air soon.

Had the same problem myself tonight just got to field and thought wind is bit gusty got the raptor in a hover but wind was a pain it was bobing up and and all over the place.
I was just thinking this is not much fun I know I will turn into the wind just as did It came straight back at me even being well back from it I poo my pants but remembered dont panic give it loads of foward and revs and got away with it.
Landed turned off and went home and no damage.
          Will fly another day.

Sorry to hear that, Holst. I'll give yo the advice I got when I decked mine - It's a bitch, but get out thre & fly as soon as you can - not easy, I know, it isn't a cheap hobby. Hope you are flying again soon.

              Here are a few pics.

I posted a thread a few weeks ago about building my own heli.

Im seriously thinking about building my own frame using the surviving esky parts as a base but with a similar layout to the 450 pro and beam.
Im going to have a play around with some designs tomorrow and see what I can come up with.

The design of the esky frame has some major flaws, it can be simplified alot and made much stronger without much difficulty.

Im feeling quite excited now it will be cool if I can make my own frame and cheaper as well

                Ouch Dude,

Thats probably the worse Belt CP crash ive seen, i was going to advise on getting a Belt CP Kit, that costs 40 quid, but since your All carbon the kit will cost considribly more, tho.. you could always transfer the head

Good Luck with the Rebuild Mate!

And those blades look good, what brand are they?

It went in very hard, it was going very quickly as I was pulling out from a high stall turn, in the sun couldnt tell that the heli was still pitched down so much so it flew straight into the ground. I knew the sun was just infront of my right shoulder but I let the wind push it too far that way.

The blades are thunder power that I got from fastlads, from my unfortunately short experience they are pretty good blades.

The more I think about it the more I like the idea of making my own frame. Im not sure if I will buy the CF and cut it myself or make a CAD drawing and let fibre-lite do it for me... it depends on how much they charge for a one off part.
