  • Honeybee Transmitter Settings and heading hold gyro options

Hey, am slightly confused by the transmitter settings for my Hbk3, in the manual it suggests that the gyro pot on the left top of the transmitter should be set at 12 oclock for hovering but after seeing a few youtube set ups they have all said it should be set at zero, I know the manual is about as useful as a chocolate ashtray on a motorbike so does anyone know which is the right setting?

Also, should I have the heading hold gyro in rate or lock mode for hovering?, I thought the idea of a heading hold gyro was to keep a heli more stable when flying in windy conditions and to be honest I think I'd rather learn without anything aiding me, in my opinion it would make me a better flyer if I learned to keep it straight myself.

    Cheers.

I think you will have enough to worry about without trying to fly in rate mode as well.

Everybody here uses a heading hold gyro and flys in heading hold 99% of the time.
The only people who might not are scale pilots.

Ive not seen one of these transitters before so I cant help with the transmitter settings.

Hi Holst, how u keeping fella?, thanks for the reply, so I take it the heading hold gyro keeps it straight and stops drifting, am I right?, I'll give it a go when I next fly, I'm still getting my head round the Hbk3 and have heard, seen and read some conflicting views on the gyro etc, have come on leaps and bounds with my buzzfly but due to time restrictions I've only had three flights with the King and they've all been in rate mode, would that be the reason she has quite a lot of movement?.

Cheers, hope u have a good weekend and get some flight time.

In rate mode the tail will drift with the wind. In heading hold the heli should hold the tail in one position and compensate for the wind (when its setup correctly)

You have probably got quite good at controling the tail on the 4#3B as the gyro is a bit random and this will help you to fly in rate mode but you should give heading hold a try as it will make life easyer outside. Once you start turning the heli across the wind heading hold will help alot as the tail will do where you want rather than following the wind.

Keep practicing with the 4#3B and you will soon be flying the king around

Ive built up my confidence alot in the last week with the Belt CP.
I knew that I could fly nose in with the 4#3B but I wasnt confident enough to try it with the big heli.
This week I got a better feel for the beltCP and im now flying circuits, hovering nose in and doing some simple stunts as well.
Everything I learnt with the 4#3B has transfered over to the big heli so the more you practice with yours the easyer you will find the king
All the hours flying the 4#3B have been worth it and ive not crashed the Belt (yet) which is 100% due to practicing with the little heli.

I saw your video of you flying the 4#3b mate, was all good, I bought a new one today as my old one has been a bit battered, it still flies ok but it's being held together by ca glue so I'm looking forward to giving it a fly later on tonight.
