Right as you know i have upped most of my gear to digital, and was told that i would need a step down to run my 401 and 9257, so i bought one but have since found out my blade is 5v so a step down is not needed but was told that i would need a bigger esc as the radio gear is 'bigger', now since asking questions i now see that the 25a is for the motor only, i didnt know this before, the motor is not a problem as im still running stock for now and if it does die i shall be using the twister/esky replacement, i think the reason i was told to get a bigger esc is because usually the bec would be bigger or is bigger than what i have as stock, all i want to do is run my heli safely without risk of cooking any of my cyclic servo's or damaging my gyro & my tail servo.
I haven't yet bought an esc but i do have a step down, although its not on my heli at the moment

OK Nik,
You are right to worry about upgrading your BEC as you will prob fry your current esc if you try and run your new gear with it.
The BEC in the blade is not really up to the job.
So your options are
1) Run it as is and wait for your ESC to give up (and probably crash as a result!)
2) Keep your existing ESC but add an independant BEC like this one.
3) Update the ESC and get one with a 3A BEC rating such as this one.

Yay i got an answer i can follow lol, assuming i buy the independant BEC, how do i attach it and how will it affect my current built in bec?

Hmmmm.
Not having done this myself I believe you still need the throttle signal from the ESC to control your motor throttle.
I believe that you need to cut the red wire from the Esc to the throttle channel.
You will also need a spare port on the Rx for the BEC to plug into. Failing this you will need a 'Y' lead.
Can someone else clarify on this?
The Bec will draw its power directly from your battery as will the ESC.
So to summarize,
Both the BEC and ESC will need to be plugged into the battery.
The red wire from the ESC to the Throttle channel will need to be cut.
The BEC output will need to plug into an available channel on the RX or a 'Y' lead.

Im guessing the red wire is to power the built in bec, as for a port on RX could i take out the single wire from the gyro? I'm pretty sure this would still allow heading hold to be in use.
