  • Is it me or are there

a lot of threads based around
"I've had crap service from....." or "I've had great service from....." recently?
Is it the credit crunch and the slightest thing has us running for our high horse, is it that we're all turning into Victor Meldrew, are we being overly protective of our own personal favourite shops?
I dunno, but was surprised to find 3 separate threads today either bemoaning bad service or praising good service (yes I did contribute to one thread then came across the rest and have started my own little rant in the past)

Seems like we are all Victor Meldrews and Captain America defender of our fave LHS when the fancy takes us.

There is definitely a tendency for people to stand up for their LHS. Whether this is a good or bad thing I am unsure. But yes I see what you are saying

I also concur about the bitching but all forums suffer from that I might add.

I think one thread on a bad shop will encorage others to post more.

I dont mind if people have made every effort to sort out problems between themselves and the shop and finally resort to posting on the forum.
However if the poster hasnt allowed the shop time to sort problems then I think its a bit unfair to slag them off on a forum when they have little chance to defend themselves.

So if your going to post such a thread think twice before you do so.
Is somebody has genuinely tried to rip you off then people should be told, but mistakes can be made by shops and many of them will help you to resolve them if you keep emailing/calling them

There are many more bad customers than bad shops and its not good for the forum to have the reputations of shops damaged by annonomous posters who may or may not be telling the entire truth.

(this post isnt aimed at anybody who has posted recent threads, just a general comment)

reputations are long to build and quick to destroy, that is why most places will go out of there way with customer service (in this day and age) if they want to survive. Exactly why in one of the posts a senior representative of the shop concerned posted in the forum.
When customers have a problem 99.9% its outside of the control of the seller, the 0.1% of problems are generally honest mistakes (we are all human - well mostly after all) and the people concerned go out of their way to ensure a satisfactory resolution.

I shop all over, mostly on-line as I dont have a LHS - closed a few years back. 99% of the time stuff arrives within 2 working days thats good enough for me!
