  • Tail problem

    Hello all,

Recently I have bought Esky HH gyro ver B. It does not work grate with Esky 406A Tx but still better than rate one.

    My problem look as follow:
To have strong enough tail authority while the heli hovers, I have to lower HOV. and PIT. to the minimum. The head is holding until I do not increase (the tail goes anti-CW) or decrease (the tail goes CW - as I remember) the Thorttle and even the gyro is not able to counteract.

In my opinion (but I can be wrong as I am a noob) it should not happen as the main to the tail speed proportion should be set so it would not happen, but it does and I am not able to solve this on my own. Can anybody advise?

    Thank You.

First of all what heli is it on?

So you are saying that when you punch the throttle or back off the trottle the heli
A: spins or B: tail moves but the gyro catches it and it holds a bit further round?

If it is B then what servo are you using on the tail? sounds lke you may need a quicker one?

If you heli is a KING 2 have you looked at the Xtreme 43t belt pulley with idler upgrade, i have it and it makes a big difference

      Yes, it is King2.

And yes, it is B so the gyro catches it, but the heli does not go back exacly how it was before the throttle movement.
I use all as the stock (besides Esky HH gyro).

In that case get youself a faster tail servo. Also upgrade to the Xtreme 43t belt pulley with idler. You should feel the difference.

Unfortunatelly the king 2 is known not to have the best tail

I have the following servo on my king 2 tail
        Fast Lad Performance

But if you wanted a cheaper option, something like this maybe?
        Fast Lad Performance

I have spent some time to read many forums about the Extreme 43T pulley:

Some people say it does the job, but others - it does not - ratio 3:2.

How it really is? Is it worth to have it/does it do a big difference?

          Regards

If you are unsure, change the servo first and see how you get on. If you are at the hovering stage then that might make the tail ok again for now.

I am just starting to try loops, and have spend quite a bit upgrading my king so i am happy to try some sports flying.

I have a thought, but I know I am a noob in this aspect, so please give me any comment/correct me in the following:

I believe that the HH gyro looks after degree (not line) position and if there is any deviation between what is the current position and the startpoint, it should compensate the error. Where the speed of the compensation depends on the tail authority and the servo speed. But in my case (besides the tail authority problem) the gyro does not fully compensate the error after I release the throttle.
Maybe I should do more work on my gyro. Another issue can by the stock Tx, but I am not sure about all I have written.

              Waiting for your comments guys.

A HH Gryo will stop the heli from having the weathervain effect, ie tail going down wind from the nose (that could be from a cross wind or forward flight) The reason your tail is moving is because when you punch the throttle, the extra torque wants to turn the heli, having a faster servo and tail rotor speed will speed up the responce of the tail to that turning torque, therefor minamising the amout the tail moves before it is caught. Think about it, the tail has to have moved a bit for the gyro to know to compensate for the turning effect, and then depending on how quickly it can react, depends how much the tail moves
