  • Traveling abroad with a nitro heli?

Advice please guys from those that have travelled on an airline taking their pride and joy.

I'm off to Corfu early June and will be taking my Trex 600ESP, Trex 600NSP, batteries and various back up parts. I've already invested in a Gflight case which will take both heli's without dismantling. Spoken to the airline and already paid for excess baggage but no advice was given other then no fuel permitted.

Would really like to hear your experiences and recommendations.
    Thanks,
    Christian

I have taken a Nitro heli to Corfu for the last two years with no problems. Just remember to remove all traces of fuel from the helicopter before putting it in the case. I was asked at Corfu airport to remove my fuel tank to show it was empty - not a problem on the machines I take, but don't have an Align Nitro, so no idea how hard it is to do on that machine. Remember, due to the heat, the engine will not have quite as much power as you are used to here in the UK.

I also took a couple of electrics and had no problems with Lipo's. I used the storage charge facility on the cellpro charger.

At Manchester Airport, the case was x-rayed, but they found no need to inspect the contents, but in Corfu, I have had to show them what is inside (including in the TX battery box). They are however, used to seeing RC Helicopters and this only caused a few minutes delay.

      Hope this helps
