  • Poor Service and Web Updates

I think I've seen another thread on this very subject, but I've placed an order a few days ago, with skyline models, only to find an email sitting in my inbox saying sorry but 4 out of the 5 parts I've ordered are out of stock and that they may even take another two weeks to come in, let alone before sending out to me!

Why can't these businesses reflect their stock accuratley like sadly only a few of them do !

it is annoying, but even through it sounds like a simple thing in the customers eyes - coding a script/program that would link a website to the brick & mortar stores POS (till computer) system is expensive and not always easily archived.

for a large business to pay 500 - 1500 quid for this isnt much but for a smaller store to spend this amount on one thing isnt really cost effective in the owners eyes.

ive had a few clients that have asked for a live stock update script/system but they are put off by the cost.

..Not sure you can call it poor service as they have actually notified you that the parts are out of stock, and given you an approximate date for the parts to come in. Unfortunately they do not seem to show stock levels in their online shop. I would have ordered by phone if you were wanting the parts in a hurry, and they could have notified you if the parts were in stock in the first place.

I think in this day and age and the likes of fastlads amongst some of the online suppliers .. We tend to compare all shops we use against these .... Sometimes things can get a bit hectic in shops and order late or not delivered in the speedy time that we are used to ..

Least they emailed you to let you know and only after a few days as well so I dont think its that bad then ... You could have always rung them with your order if you was in a hurry for it ... Like most at some time or other have had to wait a few weeks for my bits to arrive from some suppliers but I have not posted n e thing about them being bad as I not in a rush ... Well not most of the time lmao ... TBH this is why I keep 2 helis as 3 planes .. least if one gets dumped I got something else to fly that weekend hehe ....

They still need to "invest to save" or, as it really is, "invest to keep the business or it goes elsewhere".

As much as I like a certain store...and as good as they are to give you a call when stuff not in stock...its still really frustrating to put your order in what you think is in good time for the weekend etc, based on displayed stock levels, only to find that some things aren't available and now you have to order from someone else, take another postage hit etc. I won't name them because I don't think they deserve a negative rep when the only thing that can sometimes let them down is the accuracy of the stock count on their site.

It might be difficult...but that's the business they're in and if they want to keep or grow their business they need to evolve...or you know the alternative

Anytime I have ordered from Skyline models on the phone they have been nothing but helpful inc advice etc.

Never used there website though unless looking up something but in todays climate net or not I think its better to phone for best price

if i find something on a website i want i'll ring them and check they have it in stock and then place the order there and then on the phone or go back to the web site and order.

I agree with Brewber, if they showed they did'nt have stock I would have gone elsewhere, this could be a ploy in an effort to try and keep the business with them, whereas Fastlads for example, if they showed no stock, I would have simply looked at others, but I would always go back to them, for the ease and accurate infomation given, rather than being fobbed off with a specualte date. In this day and age, it is quite simple enough to update a web page, here we are doing so right now, ok, for a online shop it might not be instance, but you would think they did it once at the end of day, or when the last part had gone from their shelves, so I don't agree with the comments about how expensive it is ! I won't use them again, simply because they failed me!
