  • Raptor Tail Creeping

    Hi Guys,

had a little accident the other day and today i had to replace the tail boom, blades, and a few other minor parts, but since replacing these im getting a little tail creep. ive re-set the mechanical position of the tail gyro (401) while in normal mode, done the switch flick to store it in the gyro, but when powered up it is creeping slightly to the right, and doesn't look anywhere near as stable in the wind. previously it was always spot on, held it's heading perfectly. ive also had to set the sensitivity to 100%, which im sure is too high? what do i need to adjust/check?

    Hi
I found I have to adjust the push rod length and then a bit of trim in
normal mode. Then do the flick to set for storing H.H settings.

I have to do this after every repair that involved the boom and push rod
as it never goes back spot on. Its a pain but its the only way to get it
    spot on.

Not sure if this helps but I had a bit drift on my machines which I corrected with the gyro gain on my TX setting. Totally helped lock it down. My 401 is always set to 0 delay and about limit is about 80-90 on my 50. The TX gain setting is dependent on your servo but mine locked in at about 70. My 450 locks in around 75 and with an analogue tail servo it was about 55-60.

This is all after mechanically centering everything first.

Just had a similar problem with my raptor with a 611 gyro. Cause of problem was tail rotor vibration. Cured it with a change of blades. Holds rock steady now.

ok cheers for the replies. incidently i hit a stone on landing with the tail blades which has put a tiny dint in them. going to replace them tomorrow. will let you know how i get on after replacing them.

was a real challenge for me today though. it was really windy, probably about 20-30 mph head wind, and i managed to hold a pretty stable hover, and hovered it side on, both in to the wind and against it (side on). im getting close to trying nose-in

Ahh yeh...that info would say new blades...which you have now found out

              Problem solved.

ps. Did a little nose-in today on my 450 which gave me courage to nose-in the 600. Lost my bottle after 5 or 6 secs but it was a buzz! haha

Good luck on your efforts jamiem
