  • First flights at Midland Heli club

I had my first flights at midland heli club today.

I was a little worried about the wind, although once I got into the air it was fine.

Apart from my 4#3B and a few bounces around in the garden this was the first time I have flown the Belt CP.

With the new 401 gyro and 9257 tail servo the tail was very solid and gave me lots of confidence.

I decided not to use any trainign gear and it worked out fine, taking off and landing were pretty easy.

I almost crashed in my first flight when I went nose in, but I got it back under control again.
After that slight scare I concentrated on hovering and flew up and down side on. Left turns on my right hand side were pretty easy but I struggled with right turns on my left so thats what im going to try next time out.
I also did a slow pirrouette which was ok.
I know that I can fly in different orientations, but out in a big feild with the sun and wind was much harder than with the little heli inside the house.

One of my batterys seems to be junk, with the headspeed dropping after only a couple of minutes flight, but the other one seems to be strong. I will buy another couple before I fly again.

I managed three flights and I enjoyed it alot, the guys at the feild were very helpful and im hoping the weather is ok so I can fly again soon

Im pleased that I started out with the 4#3B as my first heli. Alot of the skills are transferable from the little heli to a larger one. Flying in phoenix has helped alot as well
