  • AR7000 problems

hi all, been having some problems yesterday and today with my receiver loosing the signal and going into failsafe mode.

just wondering if this could be caused by the esc being too close? or could it be the 1 amp bec on the esc not being powerfull enough to run the reciver,401 and S9257 tail servo.

I would say that a 1A BEC is marginal to say the least, and is most likely the cause of your problem

When you say its going into failsafe, are you losing motor power completely, or are the led's simply flashing with no loss of power?

Mee too... but also look for any chaffed/rubbing wires and connections. Personally i wouldnt have your satelitte RX underneath your battery with the wire stretched like that either.

i dont get chance to see if the light is flashing, but yes moter power is lost then it starts up again.

i have got another esc with 3 amp bec that i will try and get fitted tonight.

wire connections are ok, nothing loose. the wire is hanging down as i was testing if it would work there ok so didnt tie it up yet. could you give me a better idea as to were to place the remote reciever.

I would attach the satellite to the frame next to the main rx, so that the antennae are in a different plane to the original ones. The r doesn't need to be far away form the main rx.
After the motors lost power then restarted, were the leds not flashing then?

The light on the receiver will be still flashing when you land it if it had gone into failsafe.. Maybe your esc may have a problem and cutting power due to sensing low voltage.

Also if it is going into failsafe.. You're going to lose all your cyclic controls and not just losing power on the motor

Technically thats wrong but in this case it dont matter much anyways as the helicopter is only small and wont be flown that far away. Moving the satellite RX further away from the main unit should allow better coverage (which is what it is designed to do). As i say it dont matter in this instance because we are talking about a 450 size helicopter here.

ye the manual does say to put them a minimum of 2 inches away from each other and keep them away from the moter and esc, on a small heli there isnt a lot of choice of where to put them really - but if it works with them sitting next to each other then its good enough for me.

i have thourght about making a tray that could go above the battery and hold but ill see how it goes in the morning.

I think it is important as already mentioned to have them in different planes

I didn't think the wires between them would be that long.

Ok, seems I was slightly wrong on the satellite rx location, but defo on the different plane bit!!
You said you're losing motor power but not servo power, thats the bec kicking in when the battery power is low, it maintains power to the servos so you can still keep a level of control when your battery is starting to die. Have you tried a different battery, or tried cycling your present battery to ensure it is working to its full capacity?
