  • Channel 4 Documentary - Helicopters + Ashes!

    Hello all,

Sorry to bother you on here, but I had a quick question that you may be able to help out with.

I'm writing from a television production company called Minnow Films and we are currently making a documentary for Channel 4 that is looking at some of the more creative things people are now doing with their loved one's ashes.

I'm aware that it is possible to scatter ashes from helicopters and I wondered if anyone might be aware of any such events being
    planned over the coming months?

I'd also be interested to hear from anyone who may have already scattered
ashes from their plane and who had the event filmed in some way.

If you feel you might be able to help with my research, please do get in
touch. You can reach me on 0203 051 5352 or by email at
    carla@minnowfilms.co.uk

    Thanks for your time

    Carla

Now there's a novel use of our helis!

Are you aware that this forum is about radio-controlled helicopters, not the full size versions?

Whilst it would be technically possible to scatter someone's ashes from an RC heli, I'm not too sure I'd want to do it.

Some serious pitch adjustments. How much does a person's ashes weigh I wonder?

having recently "scattered" both my inlaws ashes i can tell you its a lot. i guess about 6/7lbs each.the undertakes urns were dark reg tubs not unlike sweet jars in shops and they were full.
we scattered my father in law at his favorite beauty spot and OMG what a mess "he" was every where!we all ended up laughing or heads off.it was the kind of thing he would appreciate.... shame i didnt think of piling him up and hovering the trex over him

would have to be electric as well...

imagine wiping down your nitro heli after that...

When my girlfriend's gran died at the ripe old age of 92, she wanted to be cremated. So there we were at the wake sitting around chatting about this and that, and I asked what they were going to do with the ashes.

"Oh, there's a garden of remembrance and the crematorium, they'll sprinkle her ashes there."

There was a long, drawn out pause, as everyone was wondering the same thing... finally one of the less tactful members of our party broke the silence:

"Don't they kind of... pile up...?"

Apparently they do. They have someone come around to rake them in every so often.

Well it lightened the mood! Gran would have approved!
