I have a Spektrum so would go for that again, a mate is after a radio set and says that Spektrum seems to get better write ups than Futaba anyway and so is holding out for a DX6i instead of getting a readily available Futaba set.....so you decide!!!

Plus if you get it on Ebay, you stand a chance of having to pay customs costs as well as the apparently cheap price!!!

I've got a Spektrum DX7 but I personally think Futaba are better quality, I went with the Spektrum as I already had Spektrum receivers and didn't want to change due to the extra cost.
Beware as stated, most things I've ordered from the states have incurred customs charges, usually disproportionate as well. Individuals may get away with marking an item 'gift' with a lower value, but it's a federal offence to declare an incorrect value or description so most businesses won't take that chance. Consequently when the dear old customs people see it come through they levy a charge on it.
I know they'll alway's be those who have got away with it but you pay your money and take your chances. Exchange rate is rubbish at the moment any way.

interestingly nobody that voted yes in the futaba thread has come forward to actually say what the problem they had was???

Not sure if it's the same but do you know Inwoods are selling the futaba set cheap. Worth checking out.

I've got Futaba 7C and Spektrum DX7 SE.
Comparing the programming functions, the Spektrum Tx is IMO almost a beginner's radio: No swash-to-throttle mixing. No throttle-cut function that still works in hold mode. Different trims for each flight mode (plain annoying if you don't use trims in the first place).
Stupid extra trims (hover throttle, hover pitch) that I can't turn off.
You can't assign the switches the way you want to - not every switch is available for every function. In my setup, two switches (Elevator, Aileron DR) are useless.
The Spektrum Rx antennas want to be treated with respect and gentle care. Futaba's just float around.
Personally, I'd go for the 7C. The only reason that I bought the DX7SE is that its latency is slightly lower, and Futaba has reportedly limited the maximum rate of servo movement.

PS please comment if I got any of the above wrong.

Why not going for the best of the two worlds ?

Personnaly I got a 7C with a Spektrum module attached to it !

I kept all the programming functions and habits of Futaba, and I have access to all BNF and (rather) cheap Spektrum receivers.

Although I've been using Spektrum gear for over 18 months now, if I was buying new now it would be a Futaba 10C, the new model which is 2.4ghz only, as I consider this a better & cheaper option than the DSX9. Futaba FASST receivers actually compare reasonably well with Spektrum equivalents apart from the 6100's, the 7 channel Futaba is £72 and the Spektrum AR7000 is £67, it's only the added cost of buying around 5 new receivers that's stopping me changing over

Me i'd go Futaba 7c as well less issues been reported overall

But i've always flown futaba as well... the 10c is well worth looking at if you can stretch that far and then its really worth going futaba
