I might be a pussy then because I just quit when it becomes a battle and I'm not enjoying it any more. When that happens depends on what I'm flying but yesterday it was about 25mph gusting 35. I was the only one at the field everyone else much have took a look out of the window and not bothered.

Have to agree here. On Saturday it was really windy to a point where although you could fly it was far from enjoyable. That's the point where you should admit defeat and take the heli home in one piece

        • I flew yesterday. It was a bit breezy at sunny MK but I had five good flights (i.e. nothing broken).
I hadn't flown for four weeks but it's rather like swimming or riding a bicycle.

Unfortunately at my club there's a two member minimum rule and I'm one of the only heli flyers. So for me it's 'too windy' when the planks won't fly..... which is basically almost any amount of wind at all and it has been constant 15-20mph with gusts of 30-40 so it's been a looooooooooooong time since I've flown.

                • Two flights yesterday while the wife was cooking Xmas dinner. Great weather for flying yesterday but today it's more suited to RC boats

                  • I think the two member rule is a sensible one. If you cut your arm off you need someone to be able to dial 999.

It was very gusty today at MK-on-the hill so I just had a short flight to prove to myself that I could do it.
The wind was no problem for Waveydavey who threw his (e)700n around with great gusto and skill.

Yeah I will be going back over to Hanworth and get a feel for who's there on weekdays, the one downside is that it's electric only after a certain time, either noon or 1, something like that, whereas at Epson Downs I can fly anything. I also got an email from what used to be the Kempton club saying they have continued the lease agreement at Osterley cricket fields and I can renew quite cheaply but I have never flown at Osterley so I really should go have a look, see what the journey is like etc.
