Did YOU fly today??

Only two batteries but it is cold, windy and continuous light drizzle. Also YGE was giving "6 beeps warning" so decided to pack my toy and went home.

Yes iv been complaining about the cyclic response being sluggish on my 600. Flicked the d/r switch and wow diffrent animal. Now have the confidence in it. Only done 3 tanks but pulled 5 diffrent new moves never done befor hehehehehehe still giggling

I had 7 flights today
5 on the 450, 2 on the 550 with no crashes which was a surprise considering this was my first outing for 3 weeks and I haven't even been near the sim

Had a couple oops moments with the 450 but saved it from going in

The 550dfc is awesome!

It was pretty windy but I was itching to get out to play it could have been twice as gusty and I'd still have gone

I just come on here to ask a question and your the perfect one to ask :-) my current skill level is at figure 8 and hover nose in with my 450s, I'm pretty limited to flying as we all are due to wind, I was thinking of getter a 550, is there a big difference in wind handling between a 450 and a 550? ie would i get more flight opportunity with a 550 or shall i stick to waiting for calm days. TIA

Only a few turned out at the field today, so we had back to back flying between the four of us all day (till around 3.00)
It did not start well , I left behind my transmitter and lipos for the nitro !(collected by passing fellow flyer from home ,saved 40 min round trip)
I had 9 flights all in had a very good day !!

I just come on here to ask a question and your the perfect one to ask :-) my current skill level is at figure 8 and hover nose in with my 450s, I'm pretty limited to flying as we all are due to wind, I was thinking of getter a 550, is there a big difference in wind handling between a 450 and a 550? ie would i get more flight opportunity with a 550 or shall i stick to waiting for calm days. Much more stable in wind than a 450 and is just...... Better in every way

I agree, but it's worth noting that a 550 is much bigger than a 450! The numbering makes it sound like its just a bit bigger, but in reality, they're about twice the size .. Eg .

The 500 is I think slightly more than twice the weight of the 450. Much bigger heli. The 550 is a step up agian.
I started with a 500 and still love it. Great heli.

Just been over the field to give the Logo a whirl with the new 16 tooth pinion.

Wow! What a difference, it's a completely different heli. I love it, went like a train. I'm buzzing :-)

Are you still using the stock YGE or did you swap it out for a Kontronik? Glad to hear it went well. Still waiting on my Mikado arms, which seem to have been misplaced in the post, so I can complete the build. I'm an impatient sod so i've ordered another set from a different store.

Yea still with the YGE, it's all been good so far so not gonna change to Kontronik unless I need to. Having said that I still need to setup the vbar governor and that's not gonna be one of my strong points after watching a few MrMel vids, bit confusing for someone of my knowledge lol

Have you gone for a 16 tooth too? Makes a massive difference.

No i went for a 15T for a 2200 HS but may still go up a pinion if necessary. The vbar gov is very easy with the YGE. Mikado has put up some recent videos on Youtube that cover it from pro software purchase through to testing the AR bailout. For the vbar gov I tried both methods of stick programming, which is new on the V21 ESC I believe, and then on the prog card III. Both were fairly straight forward.

They do mix if people are comprehensive and don't look into their own belly's only

Today had 4 good flights with my 550, there were 2 other plank flyers and using some common sense we could all enjoy some nice flying,
this doesn't happen often and I have a theory that if there are more then 5 plank flyers at the field and you are the only heli around....take the chair or better take a FW too, small stuff easy to carry around in my case the good old parkmaster or edge540 QQ.
If they are still annoyed with your presence do some prop hanging at a close comfortable distance, that will show them you really like to "Hover"
