  • Best starter 90 ?

    Raptor 90 or T-rex 700 ? or something else ?

Now obviously im going to crash as I tend to push a little more than i should, so for learning 3D and repair costs which one wins ?

Im only asking as today i managed my first inverted hover and im looking for something better than the 600e

Trex 700 is the best starting 90 heli if for no other reason cost and availabilty.

The Raptor is a very old design and whilst it's OK if you want to press into 3D the 700 will be easier to learn with.

The t-rex is the favourite, but the raptor 90 is also cheap second hand.

Raptor might be an old design but it works well.

If you are after a heli which will give high performance and great reliability then consider either the Trex 600 or the Knight 3D.

Yeah you could start on a 90 but consider a 50 as well.

Both the Knight and the Trex 600 are both easy to maintain and spares are readily available for both.

Fair point, a t-rex 600 nitro is an option too as is a raptor 50.

I have the 600e so really looking to get my last "big" heli for a long time and one i can progress my flying on to full 3d.

Fair enough, just seems you have ruled out the 700 in favour of the Raptor. The Raptor is still a very good machine. Stephan Simmons is proof of that!! I think the N9 is prohibitive due to spares cost. If money is no object then consider the N9, Aurrora, RJX Extreme etc

In the 'pallatable' price range I'd say 700. The main gear stripping is a problem though.

As Aidi says, a 50 size nitro may give you more stick time. I love my 50 and 90 for different reasons but both allow me to progress.

if you want another opinion from the two you listed

then as i also fly a freya and vigor 90
i would try a vibe 90 (but spares will cost more)
note i didn't say the sg (see the other treads with the gold bars about the cost of it)
but having said that the freya fly's great and when i take two 90's with me if ones the freya it gets flown the most
i was looking at changing the 700 for a turbulence but the cost put me off (like the vibe sg would)
                            Hirobo Turbulence D3
                            a bunch of bls servo's and a 701 gyro

If you want a banging 90 on a budget that you can smack in the floor without too much wallet pain, buy the Trex 700.

Cheap as chips regarding spares and flies very very well.

                              Cheers,
