  • Modern equivalent of old helis

    Hello,
It's been a long time since I was really involved with this hobby due to having children, moving house and other draws on my time. But I'm just starting to pick it up again with my old kit.
I have a couple of old raptor 50s, (one scale on nitro, one standard pod and boom but converted to electric) a blade 130x and blade nanocpx.

They all seem flyable but I'm very aware that with this aging fleet they are all just one big crash away from being scrapped. So I'm curious, given that Thunder Tiger is pretty much no longer making helis what would be the modern day equivalent of my helis? what brands/models would I be looking at if I wanted to replace what I had to ensure repairability going forward?

    Thanks
    Chris

Because there were so many Raptor 50s out there, it is still fairly easy to find spares for them (2nd hand), particularly the 50 V2. Probably the most long-lived models would be the Mikado Logos. Next to that I'd say SAB Goblins and perhaps the Oxy's. But it's difficult to say anything for sure very far in the future.

Apart from the obvious Align ones, there are a few Hirobo Shuttles in our club still giving valiant service - even one which has a belt to start it, and they seem to have no problems getting parts from Midlands when they have ground contact incidents! Hirobo have recently introduced electric, and FBL versions too.

Thanks very much for the advice, both of you.
