  • Picooz next step?

Think carefully about your answer to this one guys. My 4 1/2 year old son got a Picooz at Christmas (from the Mother in law, against my advice) and I thought it would last about 10 seconds but was amazed (and very proud) when he took to it remarkably well. Over 3 months later and the little Picooz is starting to wear out through use rather than abuse (battery life limited and the tail control is getting poorer by the day) so I'd like to get him something a little further up the heli ladder for his 5th birthday in July.

What should I get? Requirements are: cheap, all-in package; easy to repair or very rugged; easier to fly than, say, a CX2 but more control authority than a Picooz.

I'll say now that I would wory about the survivability of a Blade MCX as he can be a bit rough and we do have a 2 year old in the house!

Any suggestions would be gratefully received.

Blade MCX without a doubt mate... meets all your requirements
MCX is pretty robust mate, they dont look it but they are. Dare say theres nothing else really. Nothing that has the control authority anyways.

Sounds very sensible advice... you won't go wrong and with parts cheap and easily obtainable you will be able to give him a proper intro to the hobby without breaking the bank!

It all started with a picooz with me too... bought from a car boot sale for £8.... had helis on the brain ever since. I may need help!!

I take your point about the MCX, but it's £100 rtf and there's no way he can hold my DX7 if I was to go bind'n'fly: he's not yet 5 and quite small at that. I guess I was hoping for a Picooz+ or a super Picooz or a Picooz SE. Perhaps 3 channels of control, that kind of thing.
