I would prefer it were a round cable so you are not the only one.

Over time the ribbon gets discoloured plus the oil residue is hard to remove.

We had considered the round cable before the gyro was produced. The problem is; to have internal cores suitable to be crimped reliably to servo connectors the overall diameter of the cable gets too thick. If you choose a thin round cable then splicing will be needed to convert the thin cores of the round cable to thicker wires before they enter the servo connector. This will need an extra plastic box or some huge ugly heat shrink like some other gyro has The current ds760 cable does not have any splicing under the heat shrink. It is there only to hold the wires neatly together.

BTW, we had a number of requests for shorter cables and as we are about to have some more made I am open to suggestions about the total cable length. From exiting the gyro to entering the servo plugs.

            Sorry, pink not available

I think a 15cm short lead would be great...

Would it not be possible to do the cable like the bls251 with the rubber cover for the cable and a larger rubber piece at the connector. It looks neat and also protects the cabling a bit better

First time that I managed to get round to flying after the upgrade to V2 on the gyros.
Out of the 3 helis I have these fitted to only 1 seemd to work OK (Trex 500). The other two exhibited some problems which I will put down to setup differences with the new firmware.
I found that on both the BEAM and Trex 600 the tail seemed to twitchier and didn't hold as well as before the update.
Also with the 600 on high pitch loads the tail wasn't holding but drifting round a little.
I have now reset them back to factory defaults and reset the endpoints and will see how it goes next time I fly.
I'll also take the lead with me and a laptop and try some tweaking in the field.
Anyone else find that things weren't the same after the upgrade?
Please note that I did set everything else up exactly the same as before the update re. decelleration slider, correct servo selected etc.
Strangely the 500 was absolutely rock solid and that is also V2.
BTW the BEAM is on a 9257 and the 600 uses a BLS251.

I flew the Beam yesterday with the V2 s/w and a Robbe 61BB tail servo, apart from doing tic tocs in normal mode, then realising what was wrong, it was spot on for me.

I doubt there is a good answer to this one.

Fitting a Spartan to my Raptor the standard cable was only just long enough.

Fitting it to a Beam E4 it was obviously too long.

At least if it is too long you can always tidy some of it away, if it is too short ...

Not sure the retailers would be overjoyed at having a long and short SKU, especially since they already have the Sport variant to deal with.

Nice to have the option though if you can manage it but don't reduce the length for all of them.

I think the length of cable is always going to a bone of contention. How long do you need a piece of string ?
For a 250 anything more than direct termination is too long and a 450 / 500 is similar due to the rx normally being towards the rear.
A 30 / 50 / 90 and the align variants 550 / 600 / 700 start to become a diferent matter as if the gyro is conventionally mounted at the rear then the cable often needs extending. When the gyro is front mounted a short tail is better especally with a front mounted servo.
So an option of a short cable would probably suit more than a longer one. but then again its hard to tell. I have 2 helis where short ones would be ideal and two where the tail servo is close to the gyro and the rx is miles away so i have to use extension leads and bundle the cables at the back ot the tail servo wont reach.

Ohhh and if you are lucky enough to have a Bergen then the tail servo is mounted at the tail end of the boom so you need a 2M extension to reach it...!

                        Just an idea...

i updated all 3 of mine friday night and have been flying them all weekend. all are good as gold, locked in as ever, perhaps slighly more so, either way, still a great product for me

Maybe Spartan Rc can have a short lead as standard and offer a n extension if you need it?

                            Regards

I said in another thread that I couldn't see myself buying any other make of gyro due the excellent customer service levels, but this is one thing that would make me think pretty hard about it.

Why would I want to buy a gyro knowing in advance that I'd have to extend all the connections with the mess that implies for the wiring to say nothing of the additional points of failure you are adding.

Although a long lead on the really small stuff can be a pain, at least with the ribbon cable you can just get a pencil or similiar and coil the lead around that untill the excess is taken up, finish with a wrap of thread, small cable tie or whatever and your done.

I would rather have it to long than to short...just ask your Misses..
