Nitro Heli, which one?

Well due the the weather, I have now got a nitro itch that needs scratching .

After looking around on various sites I have narrowed it down to;
Raptor 30 V2 = £160
Raptor 50 titan = £225
ElyQ Vision 50 = £139

The ElyQ seems the obvious choice after reading some of the reviews, the cost and talking to another member, but are there any other kits that I should be looking at?

Also I would need some advice on which engine I should be looking at, doesnt need to be anything too extreme, just a good "all rounder"

Any advice appreciated.

Raptor 30v2 - now to dated leave alone no real benfit to learning on it.

Raptor Titan: now dated again, but a solid machine flys nice and easy to set up. Tough machine takes a good bump well very good all rounder

ElyQ - seen one... its 139 pounds for a reason.... They seem to fly well enough though.

Out of those 3 the Titan would be my main choice

Engine the T.T Redline is a bit cheaper than the OS Hyper but the Hyper is a good engine and for a beginner there's not a lot in it. Pipe go Hatori or MP5 both ideal.

Gyro go for a CSM 720 and a 9254 tail servo combo the 401 and 9254 pair are now to expensive for what you get. BUT Mount the 720 on Futaba gyro pads BEWARE though The 720 might need configuring to run the 720 out of the Box via a PC but worth it.

Servo's go for the Align 610's x3 of them and a futaba 3152 servo on throttle a 3001 will do though but a 3152 won't need changing or upgrading.

Okay I'd say yes to the Knight 50 3D they seem to have this one sorted now but the basic knight 50 itself.... Talk to the Knight guys though because Weston have taken over UK market for it, not sure if thats a good or bad thing yet.

it fly's but seen a couple not going to say over impressed same as the ElyQ

If buying new go for the elyQ.
If second hand, i have a knight 3d for sale, i also have an engine and cyclic servos, all still fitted to the knight at the moment

Well if you want a second hand heli... James's Knight 3D will probably be a cracking buy. If its anything like the 500 i purchased from him then it will be extremely well looked after and will fly great (they aint much that comes close to the way a 3D actually flys TBH though). I would go for that but if your wanting to buy new then go for the Raptor Titan as its an everyday flyer and the obvious choice from the 3 you have listed really. The Elq might fly well but as already stated its 139 quid for a reason so dont expect it to crash and survive well. In fact if i remember correctly theres been a couple of people crashed them on here now and they just ended up writing them off. Advantage with the Elq is because its so cheap you could maybe purchase a whole kit as spares anyways.

I know you will be well happy with any purchase from James. I was extremely happy... he even sent me bits he had lying around after the deal was done
As i say IMO and from probably all the helis ive flown (50 klass anyways) there isnt anything that can outfly a Knight3D. Only thing i will say is make sure your on top of the maintenance... but that should go without saying and for any helicopter really.
TBH you have covered the helis most would look at in your list anyways. You could maybe add the TRex 600 Sport to it.

I like the Compass kit, but all the suppliers I would normally use don't stock any Compass kit at all. Even Fast-Lads are out of stock on both the 50 size kits and a fair amount of their parts.

Paul, the uk distributor for compass is Weston uk which are only up the road in sittingbourne, so you shouldn't struggle with parts. Elite stock spares too...

Thanks Lee for the kind words, and he is right, the knight does fly brillient, expecially with the white align carbon paddles (i have been experimenting).
