  • Soldering deans?

    hi everyone,

i was wondering how people are soldeirng there deans connectors onto the batteries. I cant seem to get the battery wire hot enough to get the solder flowing.

    I am using a 30W soldering iron.

was wondering how you guys are doing it and where i am going wrong.

    cheers

A good dollop of solder on the iron helps to tin the wire, as it will provide a greater surface area in contact with the wire for the heat to conduct through

Oh, and make sure you've got fluxed solder

As Phil says above, And if you have old crappy solder on the end of the iron with burnt out flux it will make life hard. Let the iron get hot and then quickly rub the tip over a DAMP sponge a couple of times, this will clean all the crud off for a fresh batch of solder.

Joins the connectors together first, then they wont warp if they get too hot

i cant tell you anything more than whats already been said apart from your solder might be $hite so you need to get some good quality solder. the first time i tried soldering deans i couldnt do it and knacked about 3 of them trying. then i got my mate to have ago and he said straight away "this solder wire is no good". we got some decent solder and i soldered the wires on with no trouble at all.

i just finished soldering some deans on my stryker esc as it come with the parkzone connectors

            cheers

Also change the tip to a chisel blade for more heat delivery.. I use a 100W iron clean the deans up with alcohol swab , a dab of flux and they go on a treat
