  • Finally......

I get to join the HiDef club!!!!!

treated myself to one of these http://www.samsung.com/uk/consumer/d...LE46A756R1MXXU

    Arrives Tuesday ish

Got a stand and the Samsung Bluray player thrown in for the usual £50 extra.

The fact that the Formula 1 starts at the end of the month on BBC apparently () in HD had absolutely no bearing whatsoever on my decision to get the above. At all, honest guv

Its got me looking at my surround setup now lol. Need a new amp maybe (possibly a Denon 2809) and upgrade on the surrounds. Currenently a Kef Center 1 and Canon rears. Fancy a set of Tannoy Arena's if they will compliment the Tannoy 6 monsters I run at the front I want to go from 5.1 to 7.1

I have The Dark Knight and BBC's Planet Earth on Bluray coming Apparently both are real demo pieces for HD and Bluray

    Absolutely cannot wait

nice one, i built a media centre not long ago with bluray etc aswell.

i'm currently reviewing my HD options, i.e do i pay for sky HD or get freesat. i really only want BBC for the formula 1 funnily enough. but the thought of discovery HD is very appealing aswell.....choices.

        cheers

For £49 installed etc..... And the Sky HD box upscales most of the Standard TV I beleive. You need to check that though.

the sky thing has other issues. i'll keep em short.

                1. it's ruddy expensive (be about 30 quid a month to get discovery channel)
                2. the failure rate on boxes is shocking, remember you own the box, not them so your paying to get it fixed/replaced when warranty is up (chaching)

i think i'll go with freesat and wait on nthell getting their act together with more HD content. the sever lack of it is very annoying (bbc only)

                cheers

Welcome to HD, its well worth it

my next purchase will be the new 21:9 TV's coming out soon, no more black lines on Widescreen flims

although bigger blacks lines at the sides on 4:3 TV lol

anyone know when these babies will hit the uk?

Well the Bluray version apparently switches back and forwards from widescreen letterbox 2:35 to full screen 16:9 IMAX camera shots for the panoramic shots. Sounds awful but apparently is really well editied so that the top and bottom black bars reappearing are in the darker shots and therefore not so noticable.

                          By all accounts its stunning........

                          I'll find out Tuesday ish........
